SKILLS BUILDING AND PROFICIENCY TESTING
In an environment of increased scrutiny, where forensic evidence is more routinely challenged in court due to poor documentation or insufficient peer-review protocols, it has never been more important to test and train your latent examiners thoroughly.  Mideo has teamed up with experts from several of the largest and most experienced agencies in the country to create training and proficiency testing tools for latent analysts, within CASEWORKS software.

Mideo’s TRAININGWORKS allows users to create their own customized training materials, implement blind-peer review on live casework and track and compare skill levels for student  movement through your training program.

Mideo’s TRAININGWORKS comes with a complimentary testing curriculum that consists of several introductory samples to initiate the process. Students assess evidence according to their specific discipline techniques. Supervisors can attach additional question sets to each item of evidence per their agency standards and goals.  They can see how each student reaches their conclusions and assess the quality of their notes.

Course Authoring Module:
With our authoring module supervisors can create, rate and distribute
original course content in order to build a practical testing system unique to their agency.

Supervisor / Training Coordinator (proctor):
Supervisors compile, assign and distribute randomized proficiency exams as
well as notify students and administrators of testing status using the on-board
notification engine.  Users are able to receive and compile statistics from
auto-graded exams, checks test for errors, and send automatic electronic responses to student.

Reports can be printed for department, administrator or student records.
Assessment and analytics tools are built in for quantifying trainee test results,
to identify errors, summarize trainee test results and analyze tests
(e.g. are there any test items that cause consistent problems)

Examiner/Analyst (student):
Within the training environment students:
 -Employ on-screen digital enhancement techniques
 -Calibrate images 1:1
 -Identify ACE-V image attributes
 -Take and submit proficiency exams.

PACKAGING/DISTRIBUTION
With TRAININGWORKS, agencies are able to build their own custom training packets, including questions, answers and images, for inter/intra departmental sharing.Departments can also build custom reports to be shared throughout the department for increased consistency. TRAININGWORKS has a built-in messaging system that notifies students when an exam has been assigned to them by their supervisor and then in turn, notifies the supervisor when exams have been completed.  This tool automates the training distribution process, saving valuable time.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
Although TRAININGWORKS is an extremely valuable training tool, it’s flexibility allows it to be used to do research or statistical analysis.  For example, a supervisor may want to identify any inconsistencies between examiners, either in their interpretation or documentation.  He/she may find that certain testing strategies are not effective. They are able to see more clearly the levels of proficiency for each examiner. These results can assist them targeting specific areas for additional training.
